Barbel on the Trent

Hi Im new to this section of the site and I was just wandering if anyone else fishes the River Trent for Barbel,around my area its fishing well at the moment on the last 4 sessions I have had 10 Barbel to 6lbs 8 Chub to 4lbs 11 Bream to 8lbs and an 8lb Pike on a sardine/anchovy bollie which I managed to land because it had picked up my cage feeder that got snagged on its teeth

 

This is my 1st season on the rivers so Im very pleased :D with the way its going so far,I usually fish for spiecimen carp and have done for about 20yrs my PB is a 30lb 2oz ghostie :thumbs:

ive done the odd bit on trent mate love it,,were did you land the 30 on river or a lake pal,,have you heard of greek mouth my mate had a 11lb barbel there lovely clean fish my pb barbel only 10lb caught from near east stoke

 

Caught the carp on at Lake at a place called Ranskill,Im looking forward to catching my 1st double figure Barbel,hopefully on saturday

Fish the trent 3 to 4 times a week for barbel, ad some good fish mainly around newark old river and the main river, need rain bad.

 

Ive been fishing not far from there at Besthorpe and Collingham

ive done the odd bit on trent mate love it,,were did you land the 30 on river or a lake pal,,have you heard of greek mouth my mate had a 11lb barbel there lovely clean fish my pb barbel only 10lb caught from near east stoke

Where abouts on the Trent are you fishing?, last year the biggest barbel we had was 14lb, pike 27lb, bream to 11lb, and one very large fish that took 100yds of line off the reel on its 1st run when i was pike fishing, managed to turn it just under the Tubular railway bridge and this large tail appeared out of the water then it shot off again snapping 18lb main line like cotton.

We also had a large fish swirl at a pike of about 12lb as we were about to net it, my brother nearly brown trousered at that one.

greet mouth, nice peg that, done some good fish. trent barbel record is 19.4, if it would of been out in feb/ march it prob would of been the british record.

Think it will be at North Clifton or down from the Weir at Collingham depends what pegs are taken I'll let you all know how we get on :thumbs:
