only 2 weeks ago i was out walking the mutt, it was early in the morning and i had noticed a fox cub about 150yrds ahead of me, i decide to try and squeak it in, while i was doing this the dog was pulling on the lead to my left, i turned to see a pinemartin bounding across the field towards us, it got to within about 10ft, stopped and ran into the bushies, was a great sight to see, there seems to be alot of them down my way and see them fairly often, there not that big, maybe the size of a large hob ferret.

anyone bolted mink i have shot em but never bolted them

I've found on a couple of occasions that ferrets back out with their tail like a bottle brush if a mink is home . I well remember once when my jill had emerged somewhat bristling and shaken . The dog continued to mark the hole -albeit in a rather perturbed -looking manner . Like a pratt I stuck my head down the hole and came face to face with minky. He spat and shrieked and I made a girly sort of noise !.

Last time I saw a mink while ferreting it popped into a pipe under a gate . Blocked one end with the spade and poked a 410 up the other end .
