max abell 196
we normaly start very end of august what with the rabbits breeding as early as december if we didn't start then we would never get round it all but in saying that as i am wrighting this we are awaiting the others to turn up because we have got a rabbiting job on today hopefully stick some pics up later not the ideal time of year what with the nettles etc but we don't get the weather seasons like we used to so ferreting only when there is a r in the month doesn't happen anymore else you would be ferreting in march/april etc and constantly digging your ferrets out I do know what your dad is saying though cos thats how things used to be when i started 33 yrs ago but the climet has changed and we have to change with it Quote Link to post
maphunter 0
i think we would all prefer to go when the weather turns colder but a lot of landowners want em off all year round,in a perfect world i start at the begining of october... Quote Link to post
simonrocco 175
normally september but have to go out in the summer time to do a bit to keep the permission iv got. Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
I will be starting 1st September. But it won't really get to feel like 'proper' ferreting until we get a couple of frosts. Have done a bit when needed over summer, but only as a last resort, as it's often the least effective (for most work) method at this time of year. Quote Link to post
The one 8,477
Never really stopped you can do horse paddocks any month of the year , you only have to wait on the cover dying back on arable farms really Quote Link to post
