Plummer terriers ( pre ban )

Donny, then you will know what I mean about generalising remarks,Borders have suffered as much as plummers in their lack of decent workers and are a rareity among a working genepool so you are in the same boat as us plummer owners as regards that,I've been out with lots of well bred borders and have never seen one that I'd want to own, they are slow starters, many are oversized and they too have suffered from a serious influx of show stock,I'm sure if you put up a thread on who works their borders to ground then they will be in the minority as well,I was out last night with a well bred border, its a lad off here and it was nowhere near anything that we pushed out from cover, this dog has a lot of good blood in it (oxcroft, etc) but they are nothing like the borders we used 25yr ago, they always appear when the hard work is done,as for white lakies, they are rock hard and are exactly what they look like and most would not get to ground in earths around here ,they are very limited in their use for larger quarry,so as you say you've seen many plummers try and fail then I have seen similar in the breeds you keep, making generalising remarks will always come back and bite you on the a*rse, maybe I've only seen poor ones as I'm 100% sure you have only seen rubbish bred from non-workers,f*ck off is not really a balenced debate and yet again shows your level of intelligence,I'm all for opinions and balenced debate to help further breeding standards among our terriers so by all means give viable comments that are constructive and not one line personalised opinion without basis,I look forward to your next one liner of "F*CK OFF" WIRRALMAN

Dont talk to me about balanced debate .I asked a question which you in your high and mighty way came back with The sarcasm ..You keep your plummers ..As for oversized dogs sorry not my scene mine are bred very narrow as thats what I need down here ..Borders slow LOL another myth spread by idiots like you They are not slow but need entering differently .Sorry about the F Off bit ..I abhorr white lakies as for borders come down pick any one out my kennell and we will dig to it ..You started the shite not me ..Oversized get f*****g real you tosser all my dogs are well spannable as for work LOL Doing hunt work with Foxhounds and Otterhounds before you left school .Twat No wonder Blummer threads get ripped to shit with idiots like you giving it the big one when someone asks a sensible question ....I remember the days Plummer was walking around with blank cheques trying to buy decent stuff You were probably nicking Tizer bottles

Omega, its nice to hear a post from someone that thinks along the same lines as myself and you should stay active with your commonsense approach to terrierwork on this site, people are too entrenched in

I am new to the forum so I will just add my two penny worth. I used to be heavily into sensible, lawful and necessary working of terriers until I felt the sport was becoming ruined by idiots and petty

wirral i realy like your type of plumber and think yhey would suite my needs as i like a terrier 2 be an allrounder earth work tracking game and must be a good busher.u seem 2 no your stuff about them

Were plummers even created with the intention of being earthdogs?

I was always under the impression they were an above ground vermin dog that a tiny minority have tried to work underground.

Correct me if I am wrong.

FTB

I was also under that impression mate

Didnt think they were bred to digggg but could only be a bonus I guess............ .

Pretty rare gotta be some sort of record 5 pages with out bloodshed on a Plummer thread ;)

Am in South Wales if anyone knows of a litter I would apreciate it ??

Gravel, you really are a plonker,I take it your just a young boy on the wind up,that pic is of my old dog "DANNY" who is being replaced by the bitch out of my present litter, the pups are only 4 and a half weeks old and I had my choice out of 9,I don't choose a pup by looks but by many things and I am quite happy with my choice,in the unlikely event of you ever taking your pretty boy out you will be very upset by the bites he recieves, and a swollen head will look lovely on him and it may even swell to your own gargantuan proportions.I doubt your dog is of the right breeding to do any serious work or you would of shouted it from the rooftops and if you are anything like the person you come across as on here then anyone of note will not give you much time, calm down and try to make friends of people instead of enemies you know little or nothing about,I look forward to seeing your post's asking for help later in the year when you realise that he's not all you thought, plummer's take careful entering sometimes and will easilly see past your obvious lack of experience, atb, wirralman

Wats all that about?

Nice pups, how do plummers rate in work ability?, are they as good as a patterdale do you think.

that would depend on what you want from a terrier. if its purely earthwork. i would go for a well bred patt. if i was looking for a versitile allround terrier i would go for a wellbred plummer. horses for courses

Donny, that post was deliberately written to yank your chain and I'm glad it had the desired effect and predicted idiotic rant from yourself,it appears you do not like your chosen breeds to be treated with the same glib, generalised remarks as we have to put up with,as has been said by others,PLUMMER's are a very intelligent all round dog capable of much more than just earthwork, the question at the beginning of this thread was did anyone work plummers to ground pre-ban?? I think the replies were all civil untill you wanted to cross question how many worked them, there was no need for you to enter into the thread as you do not have the knowledge or experience of them working,Essex, has never been a hotbed for plummer ownership and as said before the ones you seen were no good,I would never presume to enter a debate on a breed I've only seen one or two work from, its hard enough finding enough lads working terriers these days without arguing over the pro's and con's of different breeds,if I can't say a good comment on a thread then I just don't post but it seems if you mention plummer in a thread all and sundry come out with derogatory remarks without any real experience to base it on,the manner in which you flared up when borders were questioned tells me you feel the same way as I do about my plummers, you would not sit back and hear them called rubbish and neither will I,I will not keep a terrier just because its popular but because it suits my manner of working,it would be easy for me to keep breeding off the white bodied plummers my litters have had in them and call them jack russells,I've put pics up before and people comment well done, etc, but put up a pic of a plummer and you will get the same old names calling them sh*te,very predictable and the main reason why most owners will not post.

To the guy that was asking about patts and plummers my answer would be that they are 2 totally different animals having worked both, plummers are an all round terrier not an out and out pure digging dog like the patts I kept in the past, its like comparing chalk and cheese, likes been said before its horses for courses,it also can depend on the terrain and quarry you are wanting to hunt but for general all round work plummers will not be beaten in my opinion, wirralman

Have to say,, I`ve always had a soft spot for a wee plummer,,! but lets not forget! they weren`t meant to be that wee!!! ground work was not there main purpose! a bit of leg was always a desired trait, as they were a dog for above ground work. Very handy dugs!! would love one,, but would like it small,, so that ground work could be an option,,(but then shouldn`t I buy two dugs for all jobs hahahaha)

I don`t think that tall Plummers is a new thing,,they were always a bit big. Nice dugs Wirral
