Omega, its nice to hear a post from someone that thinks along the same lines as myself and you should stay active with your commonsense approach to terrierwork on this site, people are too entrenched in

I am new to the forum so I will just add my two penny worth. I used to be heavily into sensible, lawful and necessary working of terriers until I felt the sport was becoming ruined by idiots and petty

wirral i realy like your type of plumber and think yhey would suite my needs as i like a terrier 2 be an allrounder earth work tracking game and must be a good busher.u seem 2 no your stuff about them

How far back are you talking ?? all the plummer's we used from around 1980ish onwards would fly to ground, some were a little too small in the head for taking punishment but made good little bolter's for places you should'nt be,after that some were bred a little to big and took ages to get up to their quarry but were a bit too hard and were laid up for a week or so,there are still some lines about working fox on gameshoots, etc,my own dog has never let me down,he is double bred back to VANDAL and is mainly REMLAP lines,I have just bred my bitch with a nice sized dog from a line that still work well in the midlands protecting gamebirds,so YES they were there pre-ban and are still there now but you got to know who's working them properly and who's not,my line is not registered with any club and carries no known genetic faults that a lot of the registered lines carry due to their small genetic pool

i bought a pitmans (i think) dog, about 6 year ago, shes a bitch, fully caped, and about 4 generations back in her lines you can see the bull terrier being added to the gene pool in her papers, and ohnestly she is a hard little dog, we had patterdales welsh x lakelands and lakelands etc, a good little pack, and my dad seen the plummers so he bought one to see what it was like, as she hit 2 year old she was one of the hardest dogs ide ever seen for her size she'd down the other terriers and would kill anything, we eventually sold the rest of the terriers and kept her, as my dad got some lurchers, i still have her now, and about a year ago i lined her with a very strong headed little dog, we only got one pup in the litter, and i was keeping it anyway, luckily enough it was a bitch, and they are a great little pair, theyre a little big headed but they cant half go when they haveto, great nose and strong diggers, theyve never false marked for me once, ive seen alot of other breeds false mark, but these never. i only use them as rabbiting bushing/ferreting dogs now, but i just wondered what everyone elses thinks about plummers working earth

cheers for the advice

BBB,The bitch I've just bred has no Remlap or Vandal blood of any note in her,she is new blood, and the dog that lined her was a superb little dog called "MERLIN",you're confusing my old dog "DANNY" thats near 9yr old,he is the double Vandal bred dog,and yes he can be trouble, these pups I have now have been bred for temperament and working ability not colour or pretty coat patterns,I am very pleased with the outcome, the bitch had 9 pups,3 bitches and 6 dogs,I still have 2 caped dogs to find good working homes for,if they turn out like my bitch then I will be very pleased, none should make bigger than 13"TTS but as they are the first litter I've bred off her I won't know for sure till they reach adulthood, hope this clears any confusion, atb, wirralman
