thurso jack 3 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Share Posted March 8, 2007 ok , hopefully someone on here will be in the motor trade or a legal whizz and can advise me on my perdiciment. i bought a truck 8 months ago, it was only 10 months old from the main dealer with 10000 miles on it, and at 17000 miles the engine blew up and it had to go back to the garage. It came back to me and wasnt running right, loosing power and smoking badly, it has snce been in the garage twice and still no better. 4 weeks ago it got taken back to the garage and it has been there since, awaiting now a new turbo. i have had the truck for 8 months and in that time it has been in the garage being repaired for a total of nearly 4 months. As im sure you can understand i am far from happy with this, and i have told the garage i am rejecting the car as it is not fit for the purpose it was intended for etc etc and have had a solicitor write a letter stating so and asking for a full refund. tonight i got a call from the garage saying the new turbo has still not arrived and wont be in for another 2 weeks, but they will fit a turbo of a new truck to save me the wait. i explained to them that i was rejecting the truck and that they should speak to my solicitor, and he explained that he was just doing what the manager had asked of him. is there anything more i can do, i feel totally shafted on this as it wasnt an old banger and to me it was a lot of money, and i have lost all confidence in the car. And i feel i will have trouble re-selling it now with all the problems i have had with it? any advice? Quote Link to post Share on other sites

elma-fudd 0 Posted March 9, 2007 Report Share Posted March 9, 2007 (edited) hi there mate dont think you can reject it after 8 month, but are they fixing it under waranty they have the right to fix it. the first 6 month its up to the garage to prove it was,nt faulty the next 6 month you have to prove it was faulty or somthing like that anyway i would take the new engine and turbo mate, you could buy a new truck and it could go bang, but if there fixing it for feck all they gave you a car your doing not bad still i know how shity it is when you spend lots of money and things break. This does actually work, I've done it and they'll soon want you off the premises, not very good for their image when someone keeps popping up with a duff motor right in the middle of a potential sale . thurso jack 3 Posted March 9, 2007 Author Report Share Posted March 9, 2007 a jeep cherokee, i know why did i buy it in the first place just phoned jeep uk, got nowhere, i have finance on it so called them again, saying i am willing to go to court over this as well as the press as i feel i have been treated unjustly and not had use of the car for ahlf of the time i have owned it, she seemed to take a bit more notice of me then, and asked what i would want as an outcome and i stated either my money back or another truck, she says she will get in touch with garage again and get back to me today, feel i may be getting somewhere now? bill88 6 Posted March 9, 2007 Report Share Posted March 9, 2007 Ten years ago when i was working in the motor trade.A guy that did the gearbox repairs for me,was doin warranty work for the local Jeep garage.Some of the cherokee's had done less than 3000 mile's,and had diff failiure!! If you have a solicitor on the case,he should be able to advise your next course of action.Only thing i would say is "be polite" and don't lose the head with them,that way if you do sue,the courts will look more favourably on your situation.All the best anyway mate.Bill Quote Link to post Share on other sites
