update pup pics, 7 and half weeks old :)

Thanks all, they had they're tats done today, boy did they scream!! My white un had a very red side to her coat lol.

 

is that normal practice to tattoo them at that age thought it be better at a few days old,not having a go :D dont know thats why im asking,cracking looking litter all the same :thumbs:

They can't get done til they're at least 6 weeks old, the ear has to be big enough for the tat, took less than a minute per pup and afterwards they just carried on playing about in garden like nothing happened :)

 

if you dont ask you dont learn :laugh: good luck with the one you keep you deserve it :thumbs:

The tattoo is done all in one go with a crimp like clamp so the ear has to be big enough to get the whole number/letters on. Once crimped they smear an ink over the inside of the ear which dyes the freshly broken skin, after a few days the excess ink comes off and the detailed tattoo can be clearly seen.

 

I've had a litter done in the past and they do squeel like crazy but soon forget about it. The ink also has a soothing painkiller added so once applied it takes the sting away.

 

Tattoo's (from my experience) are a little more distressing than getting them microchipped but the reasurrance of permanent identification is worth the few seconds of pain whichever method you use.

no reasurrance really didnt stop mine getting nicked
