ferretmad 2
im looking to buy a cheapish auto for wildfowl, pigeons and clays and im wondering what is the best gun for me Quote Link to post
mally 832
Buy cheap and buy twice mate, i know from personal experience. The Winchester SX3 is the best semi auto on the market at the moment IMO. My friend owns a gunsop and could have any auto he wanted but he's chosen the winchester SX3. says it all really. Born Hunter 17,768
I bought my Beretta AL390 second hand for £300 about 4 years ago. Very good guns and you wont hear much bad about them. The only problem I've had with mine was cycling realy light clay loads. 2.5" 28grm 7.5s rattle through it no problem at all, as do 3" 50grm BBs. Just depends how much you have to spend. I really love my auto and will never be without it. Quote Link to post

JonathanKent 16
If you want a bargain the new berreta ES100 is a proper steel. Its basically a re badged Benneli (only a lots cheaper) Benneli is owned by Berreta. It runs on the older Beneli action. It runs on recoil and not gases so the action doesn't just get filed up with powder residue and muck which are botha pain in the arse to clean and can make the gun unreliable. If you have the cash I would recomend a Benneli first but the Berreta is unbelievable value brand new on guntrader they have them from £725, for a Berreta! http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/100807171926002 Having said that I bought an Escort real tree semi auto for £350 last year brand new with a three year warranty last year which is great as long as you keep it clean. and after three years who cares! Born Hunter 17,768
Mike Yardley knows his shit and if I remember correctly he recomends benelli for field use and beretta for clays. Quote Link to post

Second hand beretta 390 for that money no problem. A friend recently bought a 391 in brand new condition for £700! That was a fecking bargain! Quote Link to post
Gloop 5
Escort Hatson, New, about £350. After reading the reviews I bought one meself. Quote Link to post
samearl14 11
I've got a beretta 303. Absolutely love it, its never let me down and has cycled any cartridge ive put through it. Only trouble is theyre not proofed for steel. Something to bear in mind if you plan on doing a lot of wild fowling. Quote Link to post
pipcock 21
Dont know which is the best semi-auto but i bought a Franchi 612 vs and (touch wood ) its never let me down as far as jamming and recycling light loads.you can alter the power for the recycling mechanism, just buy the one that suits you but make sure you get a review on them because theres loads out there what jam all the time and wont recycle certain loads ,but used mine for wildfowling ,pigeons and clays and had no bother with any. good look ,pip Edited August 10, 2011 by pipcock Quote Link to post
mjr88 50
The Winchester SX3 is the best semi auto on the market at the moment IMO. Ditto , i've owned my SX3 3.5'' Composite for nearly a year and wouldn't change it for anything else. Minimal felt recoil and it feeds everything that i've put through it faultlessly , John Edited August 10, 2011 by mjr88 Quote Link to post

Alex Arrigone 24
hey bud, personally i would either go for a berretta or winchester SX3. the SX3 is the fastest firing semi auto out. both guns can be bought for about £800 atb alex Quote Link to post
