Dont think the harsher weather thing is true, if they have a good coat on them, they will do fine in any weather no matter if living in doors or out, my lot all live indoors and can stand any weather

I cant fathom the people who keep working dogs indoors.Whether Im out with lurchers, hounds or terriers, usually they come home in a right state and covered in seven colours of sh!t.Do you bath your dog

My dogs have never been stupid enough to stand in cow shit, i have a mat at my back door which my whippet wipes his paws, before entering the house, clever eh.

Thats Why Whippets are good in the house, years ago the best Hare catching Dog I ever seen, slept on the couch, and never slept outside.

Im sure it would do the dog good,Im wondering about the logistics of it ie: Do you bath the dog after every session, doesnt your house get stinking?

Do you not give your dogs a wipe down when you put them in the kennel after working them?

i keep my bitch kennelled outside my brother keeps his dogs inside and his work as good as any kennell dog the only reasons i keep mine outside is so she can withstand harsher weather and if she came in the house she would find bits nd bobs lieing round the house that people have left on the floor and cant be doing with the hassle

From army experience mate, a week in the field and you forget about the cold. A life time would make you immune to it. Also like when lamping out the window, you feel a chill, get in and put the heaters on, you feel good, then get back out the window you feel it 10 fold.

If they need it,a wipe wouldnt make them clean enough to be lying on my carpets.Good luck to yous, dogs covered in mud, blood and snot after a good night.Hope you tuck them in with nice clean sheets :whistling:

I think the main reason people keep there dogs in is because they don,t want no dirty ,thieving light fingered scum c**t to come and take what you,ve put a lot of time, money and effort into...My dogs stays where i can see em,and your place will only be rotten if your half rotten your self..

my first lurcher stayed out an never had a bother she now lives in cause she ancient an retired my current 2 live in for the reason meantioned above and i live near a main rd. makes no difference to hunting but i think there is a bit better weather resistance in an outside dog, i know my bullx bitch feels the cold an wet till she gets goin whereas the beardie/greyxbullx has a beardie jacket and is a bit better.

My dogs live in.

Used to kennel out. No difference in working ability.

I'd even say I have a closer bond with them when they live in, which does make a difference out on the field.

Same as said earlier...they don't roll in shite and if they are really mucked up they get a quick bath or hose down.
