Dont think the harsher weather thing is true, if they have a good coat on them, they will do fine in any weather no matter if living in doors or out, my lot all live indoors and can stand any weather

I cant fathom the people who keep working dogs indoors.Whether Im out with lurchers, hounds or terriers, usually they come home in a right state and covered in seven colours of sh!t.Do you bath your dog

My dogs have never been stupid enough to stand in cow shit, i have a mat at my back door which my whippet wipes his paws, before entering the house, clever eh.

firstly why would you want an aggresive lurcher? it would be a liability and would limit your hunting experience not to mention being dangerouse. as for being in the house it makes no difference to its hunting ability as long as the whole family are not giving it treats evry 2 mins making a fat fcuker ........

I think he meant drive not aggression and the answer is no as said above as long as you don't turn the dog into a fat poof.

i wonder if thats why labtastics labs never made great workers :hmm:

Labs are prone to being overweight especially if they are kept indoors with those big sad eyes looking at you while your eating your kebabs. ;)

i keep my bitch kennelled outside my brother keeps his dogs inside and his work as good as any kennell dog the only reasons i keep mine outside is so she can withstand harsher weather and if she came in the house she would find bits nd bobs lieing round the house that people have left on the floor and cant be doing with the hassle

im not saying indoor dogs cant stand harsh weathers i just think that a kennelled dogs can stand harsher, my bitch pants like mad if she ever comes in the house even when its cold, put an indoor dog in a kennell for a night in the peak of the winter and i bet you the dog is shivvering, will agree on the coats though a dog with a good thick coat will stand any weather but im just saying in general house dogs feel the cold more than the kennelled dogs

There plenty of answers to this but your bitch might pant indoors, even if its cold, because it is alien to her, not her space, your space and she feels uncomfortable there. You'll probably find, she's either glued to the spot or continually pacing, which in turn drives you nuts and back out she goes, to forever repeat the cycle.

As for indoors or outdoors, its personal choice, it certainly wont make any difference to any lurcher thats out in the field, doing what it was bred for.

nahh shes relaxed inside and tried her hardest too get in, its a fact that something that lives indoors then goes outdoors will feel the cold more than something thats lived outdoors all its life, i agree that it dont make any difference too the working ability or the prey drive

It's normal for an outside dog to feel warm if it comes in a house: I don't have central heating and I damn near keel over when I go into other people's houses where the heat is on. It all depends on what you or the dog is used to. Dogs can acclimatise to different living temperatures same as people, but I still don't think it affects their ability to withstand cold weather when they are working: adrenalin and being active keep indoor dogs warm when they are working.
