jasper65 6
I don't think weight is a major issue when we're only talking a few ounces between same sex birds Nicky! if the birds at its peak flying condition its surpriseing what they will take on. a good fit in condition experienced Hawk is alot more confident around larger quarry, having said that a young inexperienced bird will take some large quarry on and hopefully learn from its mistakes. I know of a female taking a Canadian goose and also of a few taking some good size brown hares on their day, also heard of a few taking a dislike to dogs and attaching themselves to them . Millet 4,497
Ive had a few mountain goats with a 3lb 6 female harris..but the best flight by far was on a wounded french snail that had been salted by a road hooligan when he hit a salted puddle in winter time..the snail was slowed but still made good ground.. 1 Quote Link to post

Parabuteos lad 878
i am wanting to no what i can take with my f h h rabbit's and more rabbit's .that is all they are regularly good for. its not :/ typical goshawk noob they do well on pheso's, duck, moorhens, coots etc. will usually take quarry to the size of brown hare but i have known them to take geese, greater black back gulls and one gutsy female took a heron. the bird was ok but a heron WILL kill your bird so do not fly at them. what experience do you have? surely even if your new to this, you should know each bird has a different weight that you have to find and you should also no what quarry is legal. are you using telemetry? do you have a mentor? jasper65 6
dont throw a strop, like them miserable goshawks You certainly have a point there with some PL , then again! some of these falconers who have based all there skills on flying imprints shouldn't have much of a problem these should all be pretty bomb proof by the penning stage. The way forward is cogently a North East bred harris hawk. Form an orderly queue and wait your turn. Once you have justified that you have the experience to fly a harris hawk then the bird is yours for a very good price. Quote Link to post
Millet 4,497
Ive forgot to get some food out the freezer for the ferret's derek so if you are desperate to get rid of that red crow i can make good use of it.. Quote Link to post
