There's a few bass about

Recommended Posts

Managed to get a couple of little of trips in this week and had a couple of bass.

One around 3 and half pound on tues night, off a local rock mark after losing one on the plug, set up a running ledger with peeler crab bait, a little lob no more than 40 yrds and had him just as it was getting dark. It's nice when it goes right for once.

Was up at 5 30 this morning, for a trip to the teign estuary and a bit of live eeling, within 10 mins had a small schoolie, around 1lb mark, then another around 2.5 lb. real good fun this type of fishing use a match rod small reel with braid, swivel 3ft of 6lb fluro carbon and size 4 carp hook, wade out in some chesties and just free line the eel in the flow ( a little like stick float fishing). The fish go real well on this light gear, and there's been some decent ones out recently by all accounts up to 8lb. It went quiet for me then but I'll try and get a few more trips in over the next couple of months sept/oct should be good for a biggie.......with a bit of luck.

cheers kev

Ps the biggest one was kept cooked next day, stuffed with garlic, chilie, ginger, corriander and lime....... it was bloody lovely

Had a 6 pounder last week on a rubber lure. He was delicious.

The next morning I went down I watched a fellow take a 3 pounder on the fly. He spotted the fish in the wave a cast at it. Looked like great sport and I can see myself shopping for a 9 weight for next year.
