I,v run and bred whippets for thirty years I own other x,s as well but I,ll always have a whippet in my team . I,v had good ones and not so good ones but never one that was good for nothing. The best

Bull x's are for people that have a small penis and are looking for a cock extension but have an amazing fox dog that takes anything single handed by accident

Why in the world would there ever be a whippet vs bull x argument. Totally different dogs, for different jobs (although the foxing folk do get a bit upset when they realize that the humble whippet is

On here mate, whippets are no good for anything, they get slated for beign to skinny an soft, they hate cold nights and shiver to much and can't take any other quarry than rabbit.. But if you own a Bull X they can take everything and retrieve everything live to hand, people need to start thinking with there heads, rather than telling lies about there marvellous bull x's. ATB with the whips matey, I'm a fan of the breed. HD

Ive got a wee Whippet pup mate.

I never used to read the lurcher section because every 10th post was 'show us yer bull x's'

People have different dogs for different reasons be it for the quarry they take or the amount of space they have to house it. A whippet was the perfect choice for me, quarry is rabbits when ferreting and it stays in the house so had to be small-ish.

If it ain't a bull x it ain't worth having...........

Thanks for your replies lads in years past I"ve run saluki crosses and collie crosses, the saluki crosses where run mainly on long ears on the fens, cambridge etc but I did also lamp them and found them pretty decent all round whatever there reputation, my collie crosses were generally used all round and covered most of what I wanted to do and where even handy round a dig BUT the little whippets suit me now and have plenty of fire in their bellies also I find that you tend to be welcomed in places where you most certainly wouldn"t if you turned up with a lurcher.

The knockers don"t worry me it keeps the messers out of the whippet scene as most don"t believe the capabilities of these little dogs.

Hi to all, so I've never owned a whippet before and have encountered an irritating habit that got worse in the last month of ferreting and was wondering if anyone out there has had success minimising noise during ferreting?
So he runs prey silently, almost never barks at home so I was very happy going into his first winter, but.... when the ferret slot machine is not paying out fast enough for his liking he yips at the holes he senses are near the underground action. On top of that, if he runs a bolted rabbit to ground again he persistently barks at the hole while constantly looking at me as if to say "get them ferrets over here mate, I've got one for you"
I've a very experienced collie lurcher who is a dream to ferret with but the whippet seems to make no reference to the good stuff he does. Any ideas on managing this?

My mate who i do a bit of ratting with is looking for a Whippet or Whippety Lurcher pup.
Idealy he's looking for a small, fast dog that is tough enough to rat alongside terriers, ferret and lamp with.
A full whippet would be great but one with plenty of poke and will get stuck in to the rough and tumble of ditch side ratting days on freezing open land.
There's no rush but if anyone can point him in the right direction that would be welcome.
      Thanks.

I’m looking for some advice as we recently rescued a whippet lurcher mix. She’s extremely friendly and sociable with dogs and people but is constantly biting and grabbing our older dogs legs, ears and neck. He’s s cavachon and doesn’t really care for playing or interacting with other dogs so he rarely snaps or growls at her when she starts. He’ll just stand there looking at us or try to run away. She’s never been aggressive towards him and regularly try’s to protect him if other dogs get rough with him. However she’s constantly biting at him when he starts barking or when’s she too excited. We separate her and tell her no but so far it’s not working and he’s doing little to tell her to stop. My worry is he’s much smaller then her and that she might accidentally hurt him if we weren’t there to stop it. Is this common Lurcher behaviour and any suggestions? Thanks
