Advice needed on stock refinishing

Hi all was wondering if anyone could help me out as i want to remove a lacquered finish that the previous owner put on my daystate mk 4. I'm wanting to remove the lacquer and oil the stock to bring the pattern out in the wood thanks chris

I'd use a fine wire wool, getting progressively finer (you can get it like cotton almost) you'd have less chance of cutting in than with sandpaper.

I dont know what you could use that would be mild enouugh not to harm the finish of the wood? maby a thin solvent that evaporates quite quckly so not to seep into the grain

nitromors is fine i used it on my hw100 stock to strip it back to bare wood then sanded it down and oiled it with tru oil.

phoned a&m gunsmiths he also said nitromors followed by a clean with some meth spirit and a rub down with fine wet and dry then tru oil.

i have tried ccl gun stock finishing also philips walnut oil but tru oil is the best for me.

 

can't wait to do my shotgun but don't want to have it out of use lol

how long did it take to rub your stock down done mine this afternoon but i does'nt look like yours,but i dont know how far to take it i'll put a pic up thanks chris

did you use nitromors? also you don't want to sand chequering.

no i used colron furniture stripper do you think i need to do it again

had a look online and i don't think that colron will remove the oil finish thats why it is still a bit dark.
