Best bait for live catch rat trap?

Alrate lads my next door nieghbours have loads of rubbish piled up at the bottom of there garden and ive started to notice rats are using my garden as a route further up the street to another nieghbours rubbish heap (4 sets of fcukin eastern europens on here) there geting under my shed and annoying the dogs. Ive brought a live trap outa our local rag and caught a young grey using a piece of choclate, but choclate dosen't seem to draw them in that well so has anyone got any tips on a better bait to use.

like the man above said "penut butter" works every time.

i used to get a good dollop of it on a spoon flick it at the floor wait for them to come and start to have a munch, then let them have it with an air gun.

buy afew cheap jars mate and get tipping it at ther fecking back door then ring local council and play up like hell ie dogs have been bitten buy the bloody pests the start launchin ya bags of dog shite over too atb with sorting the problem out (easterns)

Hi Sam just a little advice with regard the situation at ajioning premises.I currently work for a local authority pest control department.Part of my duties involve investgating problems with rats and waste at premises wether it be private or council.The council has a resposibility to investgate and resolve problems with rats and waste providing a food source.I would advice you to contact the local council environmental health department and report the matter.They will have powers of enforcement to resolve the problem.If food waste is not removed from neighbouring properties you will have reoccurring problems.

Better off with a size 10 , immigrant dead fall trap mate .Sorts the problem out at the root .Bait it with a fiver and check twice a day ,more if a large population is suspected .
