Mesarya 2
I was just wondering if anyone used them and what is your thoughts. All I know they are fast and expensive but no idea what is the field performance.thanks Quote Link to post
HUnter_zero 58
I haven't shot stingers for near twenty years but I doubt the rounds have got any better. Not very accurate, very loud and on the whole a waste of time. effort and money. The .22rf is a cracking round that has stood the test of time but it's not massively powerful. If you need more power, get a .22 WMR which is another cracking round and more power again get a .223 which is ok. If you land is passed, just jump to the .243 which is a cracking round and when combined with a .22rf you will have a rifle calibre for every need but don't waste your money on stingers. fireblade_rrw 20
As HZ has said, they cost a lot of cash, but I have to say they fly very fast and I've found them to be quite accurate. Made by CCI from memory. I bought them to keep in a spare magazine in case i came across some 'heavier' vermin... They do make some mess when they impact. I've still got a few boxes, but over the years, rarely used them. Quote Link to post
HUnter_zero 58
Do 'they' still make "mini-mags"? Back "in-the-day" we used to shoot a mass of Winchester T22's which were very cheap and very accurate, with velocities just above sub-sonic. Certainly did the job on foxes at sensible ranges but I have to admit back then sensible was up to yards. These days with slightly better facts yards is a little too far. I can remember owning a HW revolver in .22LR and shooting stingers, boy did the pistol jump! Couldn't hit a barn door mind, but I couldn't hit a barn door with a pistol anyway. At one point I owned an Erma (sp?) semi-auto pistol, real small pistol designed for self defence, it used to shoot well with sub-sonics. One thing I have always wanted to try is .22 caps, seems like the perfect squirrel round but back to the stingers, nope I never had much luck but CCI may have changed the round these days. Alycidon 2
Utter crap in my Anshultz 1712 when I tried some maybe 20 years ago. When they hit they do kill well, problem is getting them to hit accurately. On enight I fired 3 at a rabbit at about yards, all missed, I popped in a subbie and felled it. thats a pretty long one for a subbie, well it is in my book. A Quote Link to post
