Help choosing rods

Recommended Posts

The best sea fishing all round rods are without question Daiwa Amorphous tournament 13 foot. All the England lads swear by them and you can put a lead to the horizon providing you know how.

try and pick up a second hand pair on ebay you can usually get them reasonably cheap now as the have been out of production for some years but they are still the best.

Dont worry about them being older models i still have a pair and i have used them for tournament casting and fishing all the big matches for years as have most of my mates and they love them.

They are tough as old boots so dont worry if they are a bit scratched they will still out perform others.

as for fixed spool reels try the daiwa Emblem z good corrosion resistance (mine still have no signs of salt corrosion) easy to use and good to cast.

P.S i have owned and used and abused nearly every model of Zziplex Conoflex Century but the Daiwa takes some beating.

Cheers

zziplex lt14 dymic its a casting machine very forgiving ,great over rough or clean ground , you dont have to be a casting expert to use this rod if you are all the better, its got amazing bite detection close or far out , have been using these for 10 years now and tried other big brands but try it you wont be dissapointed it dont rip your sides out but has loads in reserve recommended personally i would never go for a tournament rod they are too stiff unless you can bend them which will involve a pendulum cast but in general they will be far too stiff not only in the tip which wont aid bite detection but in the butt . another good rod is the fish anywhere big beach rod if you over head thump have a look at a 16 footer they will aid you in the distance game depends where and wat ground you fish over if you want anymore advice you can message all the best paul

Hi Paul

AWT rods are not stiff rods thats why the england team love them they will stay in rough sea over beaches without pulling out are soft to cast so dont blow baits appart and have amazing bite detection.

On the other hand Zziplex rods are the best casting rods on the planet without question.

the word tournament in this case dosnt really match the rod as to what you would expect a tournament rod to usually be (stiff unwieldy unresponsive)

if you have ever watched Paul Kerry cast one you will see what i mean about being soft.

as for Zziplex (who used to sponsor me at the UKSF ) the best all round rod is the Primo but really hard going in the rocks or cliffs the the XTR takes it hands down.

plus you can pick up a pair of AWT for a 1/4 of the price of a Zziplex

cheers

casting machines zippy are , but you havent said wat ground you are fishing over, or mostly clean or rough, again for mixed ground , rough , sand i have no dout if you tried all these rods out you would choose the lt14 dymic ,it holds its own over all these grounds in my humble opinion , that said if you only fish clean ground then yes the primo is the rod , on out and out rough ground u can still use the lt14 dymic but there are much better rods for this type of ground , century sport tip tornado, greys rods nitra,{ i use these rods for rough ground } i am sure there are a lot more out there, never been a conoflex fan ,but hey that dont mean they no good , another bit of advice is maybe ask to try a rod out ask an angler if you can have a cast , you will then know which rod matches u , they cost a small fortune but that lt14 dymic its a classic a dream to cast and fish with all the best paul.

ive had all sorts of rods from but the one i set my heart on now is the century tip tornado ld.,, i never had a rod that casts like this with out putting anything into it,, it handle broken ground well i use it in south wales the most tackle hungry place in the uk and it does well..if snaged need to pull out use your arm and not the ropd and you be fine, there a ld super match out to now looks like a carp rod but with guts and long range casting ,, try brands before you buy if you can but for me its century ld all the way..
