I can totally understand it......Wenger has become bigger than the club....he,s a football manager not an accountant he should be screaming out for money to spend on players yet he,s got it but wont spend it.......you gotta ask yourself......if Man Utd or Chelsea won nothing for 6 years would they keep the same manager,would they f**k.....with the new ground they should have been honest with their fans but they kept the old " we,re building a squad for the future " bullshit....well where is that squad............my pals a season ticket holder he says if the club had been honest from the start and said we wont be winning trophies while paying off the new ground that would have been fine,but to lie and keep promising..................Arsenal are a great club and Wengers a great coach....but he,s not greater than the club itself and should be shown the door in my opinion. Whats he got to do to be a character then,a little jig and a dance,a one handed juggling act ? ......Paul Scholes has no character whatsoever,didnt stop him being one of the greatest players the premierships ever seen......nobody cares about your character if your good at your job. When he gets it right it clicks, like you said the season they were unbeaten (unbeleivable football). If he had a bigger squad at his disposal then im sure he would be up there again, he may have a few bob for players but thats not to say his wage structure can match the size squad he would like, so i would imagine his hands are tied for now. gnasher16 30,469 Posted August 6, 2011 Report Share Posted August 6, 2011 (edited) I just think Arsenal as a club show a lack of ambition..........he pleases them because he is content not to spend yet maintaining top 4 position.......the crunch is going to come if/when they dont qualify for the champions league and theres every chance they will fall out of the top 4 this season if Liverpool come strong...... After all Arsenal make much higher yearly profits than any other club in the country and thats a few years after going into the new ground.....most clubs go into mega debt to move grounds,they also have the most expensive ticket prices in English football......yet spend far less than the other big clubs on players. I believe if they showed as much footballing ambition as they do buiseness ambition they could clean up......and thats the frustration of nearly every Arsenal fan i know. Couldnt agree more , the emirates stadium finances its self , generates 1million pound profit more than Highbury EVERY home game , which generates 19million MORE just for league games not takin into account league cup, f.a. cup and champions league , plus the money they recieved/recievin for highbury is a small fortune , surely there is a reason for his lack off spending and his philosophy of bring young talent through to be succesfull is a myth concernin Wenger, his most succesful peroiod on the pitch was achieved with BOUGHT PROVEN TALENT , Bergkamp, Henry , Vieira , Petit , Pires , Younberg , mixed with players who where established pros when he arrived , Adams , Wright , Seaman , Keown , Parlour , Dixon , Winterburn ect ,he got Anelka as a 18yr old also Bought so this "Bringin Young talent through is the way forward" is utter rubbish , Ferguson did it at Man.U with giggs , beckham scholes nevilles ect AND WON THE BIG TROPHYS , Wenger has achieved NOTHING on the pitch success wise with this philosophy , though the shareholders will not be found complainin , i wonder whether Wenger is on a Bonus every year concernin Profit / Loss .... surely not . Edited to add Ferguson in my opinion is THE BEST manager off my Generation if not in the history off the English game .... I Hate To Admit !
