Coyotehunter 689
Well i certainly would not be aborting the pups at this late stage in the game , in fact id be amazed if you could find a vet that would do it, like a few people have said it would destroy the bitch, just to make you feel better,!! i would let her whelp out and get rid of all but one, so that she doesn't get Mastitis and it keeps her head right, you should have jabbed her WITHIN 48 HRS , not 6 weeks later, what makes you thinks she's in pup other than slightly swollen teats, if she's 6 weeks on she's only a couple of weeks to go, it should be way more obvious than just swollen teats !!!! did the dog tie with her or did he just jump on her and was humping ? its more unlikely that she isn't in pup if he didn't tie , but there are acception !!! rocky1 942
it may sound harsh but like you said you did want a pup in the future of this bitch ,so why don,t you keep 1 pup on 2 take the milk away and gifted 2 someone Quote Link to post

She should just get the bitches fixed and if she wants another dog in the future I hope she will chose a male. There are plenty of good dogs out there being bred by responsible people that she can get one from. Quote Link to post

But you stated in your first post that the dogs were after her as soon as your partner arrived so you put this bitch in the house. Why then did you bring her back into contact with the dogs? I know it's far from ideal to abort a pregnancy and spay at this stage (if she is pregnant) but it's been done plenty of times when a bitch has a C-section they'll sometimes spay at the same time. Bitches also lose pups and get over it and back to normal. It would be a quicker recovery than whelping & rearing a litter. Quote Link to post

So you don't actually know she is pregnant, get her scanned, could all be a worry about nothing. Instead of sitting on here go and get her checked out. 2 Quote Link to post

If that is 100% gospel then there should be a very very slim chance you have pups coming. I have a funny feeling the above didnt quite happen like that........ 1 Quote Link to post

PhilProp 51
Well i have only just read the posts and i can say that most people on here are always quick to jump in and start the slagging match. Also i think that if anyone has a dog in good shape no one would want her to go to pup on purpose this close to the season. I think that accidents like this can happen but none could ever happen on the hunting life can they as everyone has perfect dogs n perfect situations and nothing everhoes wrong or noone actually admits it. So why not give nicola some info or help on the question she asked or whatever instead of all the shit. Im sure something will get sorted out. So all the best to your situation n hope it goes good whatever it turns out like and the dog stays healthy she is a stunning bitch. Quote Link to post
