Greek Phil 5
Mike Not wanting to put a downer on it .......but Its an age old dilemma faced by every G&CM diploma student in the country. Full time positions are like hens teeth. In many instances its not what you know its who you know. With just the paperwork qualification in their file many will find a personal recommendation from someone in the industry will count for a lot more. Its just the way it is! Don't forget that all of the college between them are turning out approx 100-150 G&CM diploma holders a year . For less than 10 good full time positions a year. Plus you have to compete with the guys already doing the job as well as the lads doing it part time who are looking for a full time position. My advice FWIW is go find a p/t position, go work on some of the game farms, get to know as many of your local keepers as possible and give them a hand. In other words get some first hand, hands on experience of as much of the job as possible. Go and get as many relevent NTPC/LANTRA/C&G qualifications as you can. Show willing and a you might, just might get luck. Oh yeah, and in the words on NormanTebbit you'll just have to get on your bike and go where the work is. FightTheBan 1,147
First mistake is narrowing down your options to North West only. You will have to be a big boy and move where the work is, or finding work will be a real challenge. FTB Quote Link to post

Greek Phil 5
First mistake is narrowing down your options to North West only. You will have to be a big boy and move where the work is, or finding work will be a real challenge. FTB FTB Its a frequent mistake made by those seeking first time employment. Usually its their first and last as they never succeed in making it into the industry. Way to much competition from lads already in the job who know what's what or who have the contacts to help them. 98% of college students never get a job doing anything remotely connected with the industry. I suppose the pipe dreams has to end sooner or latter. Quote Link to post
