TVlurcherman 5
A dog i very much likea human athlete, it depends on the type of training to there stature/physique. If your doing 15 miles every other day the dog will be the equivalent of a human marathon runner, if you do 2/3 sprints twice a day the dog will be the equivalent of a human 100m sprinter. You can see marathon runners ribs but that dont mean there under weight. Looks in good condition to me Quote Link to post

Casso 1,261
to be honest i dont mind the dog carrying a bit of weight coming into the working season, as long as hes not a totally unfit lard bucket , the weight will drop off a hard worked dog after a couple or 3 nights lamping in a row,,id rather have a bit in hand on the dog ,a bit to lose as such,, Quote Link to post
tb25 4,627
all new to me so alot is trial and ERA for me al pop a pic up next month see what yous think,,cheers 1 Quote Link to post
ftm 3,357
i agree with having a bit of excess wieght on your dog prior to starting the season it will drop off after a weeks graft and your dog ends up looking great! Quote Link to post
Moll. 1,770
I like a dog to be fit to start, no extra weight. Extra weight means extra wear and tear and it means the dog is not really fit enough leading to other probs. Start them fit then adjust the food intake accordingly, if the dog looses weight, up the feed. Mine are on much more food once the season properly kicks in Quote Link to post
tb25 4,627
early days still she will look like another dog in 3 month as said only a few weeks in to gettin fit Quote Link to post
