secretagentmole 1,701
Nice evening, decided to take the small rifle out. Got to the permission and unloaded at the top of the track, in the top paddock was a rabbit having a graze, so I introduced it to the delights of a Prometheus at about 710 foot per second! It appreciated it so much it had to lay down, permanently! Walked down and moved the gear. Got to the bottom paddock and one was sitting, watching me. Using my cloak of invisibility (I bought a camo scrim) I managed to get to a bale and positioned myself. Got the line right and fired, the pellet flew staight and true, another rabbit rolled over. Now the ditch is about 4 or 5 feet deep, full of reeds and fortunately dry, so through that, through the electric fence, then I was spotted by Dobbin the wonder donkey and friends. Who decided to trot over and see if I have any mints, treats, or anything that can be nibbled. I exited the field quickly, so rabbit retrieved and annoyed horses. Walked round, not much activity about (still too early, be better in September), walked back and spotted another one in the bottom paddock, was able to get to the bale, this one was head on, so right between the eyes I thought. Yes good hit, then when I got through the ditch of doom again I spotted a rabbit I had not seen, damn, damn, damn. Always check before retrieving the prey! Well I picked it up and saw that the pellet had travelled through the skill and exited through the back of the neck! So a couple of hours out and 3 down. I must get some more lead through this gun!
