morton 5,368
Ive seen some cracking little lurchers over the years, but why is it that some owners exaggerate the working ability of their smaller type lurchers?.If they are unhappy, then get something bigger and more useful. Now lets not take this to seriously!. 1 Quote Link to post

Born Hunter 17,813
It works both ways imo. Just as many lads with big dogs no good for big quarry that say they have a decent rabbiting dog (especially when trying to get rid of it). A dog may catch rabbits but that doesnt make it a decent rabbit dog. 2 Quote Link to post

NEWKID 27,531
I've got a smaller dog 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy, she's a rabbiting dog to work with the ferrets, lamp and a bit of bushing with the jack russel, I got her for rabbiting and that's what she'll be used for, she's pleased me so far but time will tell wether she'll make a good rabbiting dog, got to be honest I don't believe everything written about what the smaller dogs can do. 1 Quote Link to post

NEWKID 27,531
Thanks Morton It makes me happy just being out tbh, roll on the season so we can get going properly again I've let her have a couple of runs on the lamp to keep her ticking over, but i've picked up quite a bit of permission this summer so the dogs and ferrets will be busy this season. NEWKID 27,531
I'm sure there are smaller dogs out there that would amaze people( a 23" dog (smallish) really amazed me), but mine's only around 19-20" and slightly built she'll be used for rabbits. Quote Link to post

SMART DOG 340
the biggest hearted dog i have ever seen and was proud to own was 22tts i have never witnessed any other dog like him i am not saying he could do anything better than a bigger dog but this little dog TRIED its best every single time and i can honestly say only had 2 faults the first being if he put charlie to ground he would force himself in after so i had to dig him out usually on the first bend where he would be jammed and the second fault was having me as an owner at the wrong time of my life 5 Quote Link to post

Guest born to run1083
think the main factor is heart in a dog, regardless of size if it has the determination to get the job done then it will. seen some really small lurchers been able to take all quarry week in week out, think it's either in them or not. it's silly to accuse people of lying of what they've witnessed just because you havnt done it or owned a dog capable being a small size 1 Quote Link to post
