Guest Ditch_Shitter
the only jab i think is really essential for working dogs that don't tend to see other dogs (i.e. ones they don't live with) is the leptospirosis shot. the one my vets use is good for 3-4 years, so it ain't gonna break the bank. Ossie; You've mentioned this before. I asked ye then if ye could please furnish me with some authorative referance to it. Ye never did. Now ye saying it again and I'm asking again; Please substanciate this claim, seemingly promalgated by the vet in question. Only I know I ~ and I imagine a fair few others among us ~ would dearly love to know of its existance. Thankyou. I dont booster for lepto as mine will get more than their fair share ratting, plus the booster only covers something like 6-7 strains and there are dozens not covered. To attempt to tidy that statement up for ye, Mollers; The usual Lepto jabs - according to my own memory of the peer reviewed Papers on the subject I've studied in the last year or two - cover the Dog for Three Months. The same jabs only being known to be capable of handling Two strains of Leptospirosis. There being ~ again, if memory serves me correctly ~ 102 known strains. Forgive me. It could be 110. But I'm pretty certain it was 102 at the last count. Titre Testing and the fallacy that our Dogs need a single " Booster " in their entire lives (Best once since " I won't cum in ye mouth. "!) are just more ways for the un ~ or mis~ informed to squander their money. Entirely up to the individual, of course. I only wish less people would bang out Opinions without first studying and availing themselves of the up to date and empirically proven facts. Wrap a white coat around a shell suited sceptic tank: What have ye got? Quote Link to post

bill88 6
I'm just back from the vet's with one of my dogs.He was there for his dare i say it "booster"he's almost 18 months old.The label in the jab book say's "Canigen DHPPi" and "Canigen Lepto2" it cost me £16.I agree the vet's in this country should wear a highwayman's outfit, but there's so many lowlife b*****ds selling drug's on the net,can you be 100% certain what your buying to jab your dog is actually what it say's on the label.A mate of mine bought a pup two year's ago,the lad he got it off said it had been jabbed and showed him the bottle's.The dog took sick 2 week's later, died at the vet's from Parvo! Guest Frank
Asked the question to my vet and he just said, if my dog is mixing a lot with other dogs, shows, coursing meets, ferreting meets, ect, then a yearly booster is best. Frank. Quote Link to post
Guest MOLLY
I trust my vet 100%, she has always been fair and has even tried talking me out of things i thought were neccessary, and has found ways of making the bill cheaper (seeing all five but only charging one consultation etc) Regarding the Titre test. It was'nt accurate in the early stages when they did not have as much data, things have moved on much more since then. I found out one of my dogs was at risk from Parvo in a heavily parvo infected area and decided to get my dog covered against it, i have no regrets whatsoever and will have no hesitation to do it again if needed. It is not possible that all vets are bent or greedy, ive had greedy ones before and know the difference. At the end of the day our dogs are our responsibility. You have to do what you think is the best thing for them in your own heart and head, and live with the consequences of those decisions. Thanks for the acurate info regarding the lepto jabs Ditchy, i knew it was something rediculously low, for the amount of strains around. MOLL. Quote Link to post
