secretagentmole 1,701
Go for an older one and make your own diesel or try and buy one with an LPG conversion!
tobyscott 0
being a 4x4 mechanic i could tell you problems with any truck all day long buot depending on how much you want to spend depends on what would be better but as already suggested a discovery you wont go wrong with if you get an older one with the 200 or 300tdi engine the td5's can be troublsome but if you look at one check the body and chassis for corrsion boot floor sills and rear chassis around the suspension mounts my old man has one doing 35mpg and better on a run, a shogun is another safe bet but are quite thursty

Lab 10,979
hi all im looking for a 4x4 that has 7 seats, not to bad on fuel and relativly cheap on parts when needed but must be reliable, what would you recomend? it will be mainly for daily use on road (with mrs and kids) but will also need to cope with off road, atb mart Martin, ive had a few 4x4s and i always cringe when i see folk say ask for one thats not bad on fuel, compared to a normal estate ALL are fecking horrible on fuel. Now i am in your situation and will soon be exchanging my Navara for something with 7 seats to fit 4 kids and us in. I will be looking as a disco (not all that reliable but cheap to buy and not great on fuel) or preferably a shogun (poor mpg but more reliable than a disco imo)............. P.S. Maveriks are truely awful motors Heres what you want them Simo.........fit all your needs and suprisingly does ok off road!...
Simoman 110
Funnily enough i hav been looking at those Mitsubuishi Delicias lab.............

Urban Fox Control London 8
Get a Nissan Pathfinder. Loads of room and a good reliable 4 X 4. Make sure that you change the tyres to General Grabber AT's or something with a bit of tread; rather than original road tyres. shootingmadgeorge 6
get a landrover discovery, 7 seater. cheap parts, decent MPG, i get 120miles to £20 which works out around 30miles to a £5er, and a £5er doesnt buy you a gallon of derv... dont get a discovery if you are hopeing to tow anything heavy or if it has air bag suspension, i had one and i know of two people that have had that and the a ir bags fail.
