TOMO 26,197
The thing that I don't understand about all this take of micro ferrets.......a ferret will fit through any hole that a rabbit will, even a small rabbit....so why would anyone need a smaller ferret unless for pure novelty value? If there is a reason can someone explain it to me because I just don't see the point. ile answer that for you first of all i dont cosider mine micro ferrets , there just small to meduim size with lean build, greyhound type if ya like. if any one thinks my ferrets dont work or cant hack a full day on the fells have a look through my back posts fist off all i can take more ferrets in my ferret box, i can comfotably get 6 in a standard double box, now try putting 2 hobs in a hundred hole warren get 6 in and see the difrence they also go through the mesh of the nets far better, 1 Quote Link to post
kenny243 54
hi mate , ik can tel you the reason why i wont them ? I've always had a preference for smaller ferrets, why? Just because I have good experiences, they do better than large frets and because it is convenient. it need not necessarily be micro, just very little ferrets. The first thing I see is their hunting instinct and their character. then look! i have a verry good working stock , from an old bloodline ! by outcrossing but is the size bigger than I once bred . Therefore I wont to cros smaller in to them . Quote Link to post

A nice sized, fit (conditioned) jill would get anywhere. These were what we used for ratting too, anything too small could take a pasting from either rat or rabbit. I only see the need for 'micro' ferrets, the same as I see the need for fancy colours in ferrets...££££. Maybe I've been out of the game too long and things have changed.. Quote Link to post

Lean medium sized ferrets, fine....I was asking about these people with "micro ferrets". And just while I'm on the subject, I didn't say that the ferrets, whether micro or not, don't work. I was just saying I don't see the point because I don't see what possible advantage they could offer, unless your 6 stone and a normal ferret is too heavy for you to carry! Quote Link to post

The trend in breeding fancy dogs (labradoodle etc) has spilt over into the ferret world me thinks! Quote Link to post
