Mma best fights?

Recommended Posts

I should have realised every word or phrase i used would be scrutinised with the added  which is pretty compulsary with your posts. Are you saying that boxing is better now than it was years ago when a fight was a fight.....? Boxing has been around for centuries so thats maybe where its picked up a fan base.... :hmm: Maybe i'm talking from a personal level that the entertainment has all but gone, obviously no one else thinks like that......silly me...:doh::doh:

What you getting excited about  ...You,ve entered into a debate so make your points and reasons and lets talk......but dont start getting all defensive and victimised if you dont know what to say next, thats just silly.

Of course boxing has picked up a fan base over time, and that fan base is as strong now as it ever was.....the young fellas who have fallen into the ufc trend will have you think otherwise, but the FACTS tell its own story.

This " entertainment " you keep mentioning.......its top level sport, not a reality tv show...it doesnt have to be entertaining it has to be of a high standard........a fight generally accepted as the best fight in the last 20 years of boxing was the first Gatti/Ward fight.....this was a fight for no title, with no knockdowns and barely a trickle of blood.............what it did have was 2 totally committed, talented guys punching hard and correctly with no malice to find the better man.

For me the fact that a sport can be made into a tv reality show sums up where that sport has gone from what it started off as.........but if its entertainment you want,im sure its a lot of fun

For me it says more about the UFC as an organisation that it is willing to allow washed up out of shape ex boxers to mix it with their premier fighters without ever having fought before.....look at th

I wouldnt criticise mma as a sport, its rules are based around grappling which doesn't appeal to me personally just as im sure boxing doesnt appeal to others.

the fact is though athletes like mercer and Toney have proven themselves as boxers more than the mma fighters they come up against have as cage fighters, the main reason being there are a lot more boxers and they tend to be a lot more motivated than other athletes leading to a much bigger talent base.

thats why i say they're tarnishing their legacy, people will remember them getting beaten by inferior athletes.

I also, dont criticise the sport....i criticise those running it !

Can you imagine any of the boxing organisations allowing a washed up out of shape Randy Couture in to a boxing ring having never stepped in one before....to fight Klitksco for his world title..............it just wouldnt happen.

im a fan of both and train mma , but the ufc is more corrupted than boxing !

that fat prick mr white has set more dodgy fights up than anything else , dropping fighters for no real reason (probably because they not usa and they have th potential to take over)

and i still havnt seen a decent boxer set foot in the cage apart from has beens whos no good.

dana white bringing in james toney whos never had a mma fight in his life ? youve got lads training thier life away who could wup toneys arse who will never get a shot .

hes a money grabbing c**t puts stupid fights up all the time

the lad down the street from me pearson won the tuf and gets put straight in agaisnt very experienced fighters ! gauranteed that wouldnt happen if they were american

good job he started winning .

also shutting down pride fc and dropping some world class jap fighters and so on........

boxings started picking up lately apart from the heavyweights , anyway....

you give a active pro boxer a solid takedown defense and its game over for whoevers steps in the cage with him imo

thats what i mean by its a circus, most the fans are wwe fans who wanted something a bit more 'real',they keep it appealing to upper middle class people by making it effectively a wrestling match which is the only 'combat sport' the majority of wealthy people will engage in.

the athletes themselves and the sport itself without all the marketing and freak show fights I've got no problem with.
