Didn't watch the fight, but given the current poor state of the heavyweight division I reckon even big Frank Bruno would be unified & undisputed champion over the lot of them if he was in his prime amongst the current crop..

 

As crazy as it sounds but at 6 ft 3 inches and 16 stone Frank simply wouldnt be big enough in todays times.

I looked him up after I typed that earlier, old Frank didn't have a bad record looking back. Good % of knockouts too.

Frank was a good boxer,was very dedicated and hit very hard..........he just wasnt a fighter in his heart.

Only at the highest level was that ever exposed......but it was there.

Witherspoon was bigger but they were better fighters than Frank,simple as that.....In that era 6 foot 4 was regarded as huge,today its average.....the thing is today as well these big 6 foot 7 plus guys are good athletes as well whereas many of the ,s big guys were like tellytubbies !

i suppose mate, really Haye was never really going to any good with (true) heavweights, as he was only 15st blown up, and his natural fighting weight was 14st cruser weight. Tyson was natural at 15st 7lb, and could punch that weight and above.The old saying a good bigun will always beat a good little'un, but now+then you get a very good little 'un that can punch like a big'un

Im not a big believer in that saying its been proved wrong too many times....styles make fights not size....Tyson had a great style for that era of plodders....big guys of todays like the Klitchskos with their movement and athleticsm would have troubled Tyson.

Haye just thought the wrong kind of fight....I believe he has the power to knock out any heavyweight....but if he,s not willing to take a risk to get in the position to do so he must fight competetively every round to win every round..... he did neither of those things.

to me despite him not having fought well against the top heavyweight,haye proves that smaller men can still compete,i mean he is one of the few fighters around with the tools to beat klitschko,fair enough he didnt put them to use in their fight but he used his better movement to avoid a lot of shots and i believe if he took more necessary risks and capitalised more on klits mistakes and missed shots he could well of won.

wvladmir has been in trouble in many fights by vastly inferior fighters to what mike tyson was. a young tyson would have been to aggressive, and too hard hitting for klit imo it would have been a complete mis match

I don't think you could get anymore tellytubbier than Tyson and co, that fight was a shame to the heavy weight title, they both looked like a pair of spazzes.

Tyson always struggled with tall fighters,Bonecrusher Smith,Green,Tillis,Ribalta......were all far inferior fighters to Tyson but all gave him problems and took him the distance.....and they were all around 6 foot 4/5.......Klitchsko is a far better boxer than those with far better movement and a far better jab...and .he is also 3 or 4 inches even taller.........Personally i think it would have been an interested fight that would go either way.
