best dog for rabbits

hey folks just got my self an air rifle and i am in need of some sort of retreiver / pointer that will be mainly used on retrieving rabbits and wood pigeons what in your opinion would be the best dog for the task i keep lurchers and ferrets too but need some thing for shooting with all advice welcome and appreciated

For airgun hunting your going to need to get close to a still target so your dog will have to be ultra steady and stick to your heals like glue until commanded to retrieve (or stay). I think your only option is a lab and even then it'll take a lot of training.

Iwould advice a lab,they very steady when trained properly and not as giddy as a ess or cocker spaniel,not knocking the spaniels i have 2 of them i use from september to end of january for my own rough shooting and also to beat on a partridge shoot for a mate.The lab i use mainly for picking up and for duck shooting and find her a lot steadier than the springers.

yes u do and its pretty hard to get too...listen your only making life harder on yourself bringing a dog because they're noisey..also what u shoot with a air rifle won't be very far anyway :)
