DSC1............

Recommended Posts

I am going to sit this dsc 1 in september and just want to know will this help my case for a firearms cert, i have owned a shotgun cert for 5 years and would like to own my own rifle for going to weekend stalks etc?

I am also a pest control tech for some time and would like a .22lr for rabbits but dont have the land at the moment, will this help gaining both a firearms cert and showing the land owner / farmer that i am a competent person with a firearm?

please comment to help me wit this one

thanks

Most definitely the police will view your application for a F.C in a more favourable light, it will show your sincere approach to a valid reason to obtain one although it is not legislation that you must have a DSC1 prior to obtaining one but it will help you no doubt about that.

My I suggest that you Contact Andrew Tredway at Barony College who is a registered DMQ assessor who will advise when courses are next on the agenda, I also think if you are a Scottish resident you may also be entitled to financial support in respect to the costing but take this up with Andrew who I am sure will assist .

If you go onto DMQ Website it gives a list of registered centres where Barony College can be found.

Hope This helps

Kind Regards

It certainly wont do your FAC application any harm. Nor will booking some paid stalking with one of the shooting estates in the area. Plus you can use it towards getting your level2. Hind and doe culling is relatively cheap, if you shop around.

In today's risk conscious society any means of proving your competency to a land owner should to be grabbed with both hands. Having the right paper qualifications comes a very close second to a personal recommendation now days. Doesn't matter if you only get to shoot rats, rabbits and other vermin or red stags.

Hi Guys. My dad said I cannot get a firearms lisence until i am either 18 and own my own house or I have to pay to do my DSC1. I was reading up on doing my DSC1 (because I have more chance of then getting a firearms lisence ASAP becausei am 14 years old) and it says candidates need to be able to prove they are an accurate shot with a legal deer calibre rifle but to handle a rifle dont you need to have a firearms lisence so I was wondering do you need a firearms lisence to do your DSC1 or not? Many Thanks, Will.
