Pigeon Controller 1
Early this year I treated myself to a BSA R10 and a Trident Gen 2 night vision scope. This combination was magic on the two cricket grounds and stables I have to shoot on, sitting out at night taking rabbits very easily at about 30 metres in total darkness. Following a holiday lay off I came to zero the sights in the garden prior to a requested night sortie and have found that the zero has gone way off. The gun has not been knocked as it was locked in my gun cabinet. Is this a known problem?? or has anybody else had the same problem. Any comments would be welcomed. zini 1,939
Hi there, This is not a problem at all friend. You should always check zero every time before you go hunting with an air rifle. Many things can make a zero change when you think that it’s going to be fine. One of the main causes is driving with your rifle in the car to and from your permission. Best to drive to your permission then check and fine tune your zero before shooting live vermin. Even the spongiest gun case doesn’t absorb all the bumps from a car travelling at speed and a finely zeroed scope only needs a fraction of a millimetre movement and it’s off at the target end considerably. This will be the same for a NV scope. A change of pellet brand or even pellet tins (same brand) can affect zero sometimes. Some say that they never ever have to re zero once zeroed, well I’ve owned a few rifles in my time and scopes and never found one that doesn’t need to be re zeroed after initial zero or need a re zero every so often. I also own an r10. Brilliant rifles they are and very capable, I’ve been looking at reviews of the new mark 2 which is really impressive. Si. Quote Link to post
