sallie 67
I have a small field that i want to fence to keep my patterdales in but allow them to have some freedom time instead of in the kennels when they are not walking or working. I am thinking of chain link that is also dug into the ground to stop them digging out, anyone else done anything like this and what height to prevent them jumping out? Is there any other type of fencing that you would recommend? Anyone on here that is a fencing contractor in Devon that would like to quote me a price pm me if your interested please? No daft or idiot replies please. Quote Link to post

Lab 10,979
Cheapest and easiest option would be rabbit netting. Get the very heavy guage stuff on the bottom and you can get very cheap plastic stuff for putting above. 3 strands of wire, straining posts in the corners and obviously your intermediate posts.... Your getting mixed up mate.....chain link is the security fencing that you see round alot of factories and compounds, its a diamond shape pattern. That would be the ideal stuff, that or Weldmesh which is the square pattern but your getting into a bit of expense to do and acres worth... Quote Link to post
sallie 67
Thanks for all the info guys. Chain link is the right stuff to use then? Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
Make sure its galvanised chain link: not the pretty green plastic coated stuff they sell in garden centres: a dog can chew straight through that. And if your'e worried they'll climb it then angle it inwards for a foot at the top: you can actually get metal pieces already bent which you attach to the uprights. Can't remember what they're called though. Quote Link to post
