vld 62
im thinking about getting a lithium lamp battery for the up and coming season i use a blitz lamp. which battery would suit this best and do these lithium batterys last very long any info would be grateful cheers mate they are awsome in my opinion,i used to use 2 x 7a lead batteries that were ok an would last me a good night out but i ended up over charging and draining them right down to nil which in turn damages the matrix inside em,the lithium ion batteries have got charge memory an cannot over charge, also the new types have a guage on them to tell you how much juice you have left and ive been out on 3 seperate occasions without charging it and ive never dipped into the red, mine is the 22a which cost a few quid but well woth it,ideal for your size lamp i think mate, few lads on here have had bad experiences with em mind so worth looking into before you buy but up till now mine has been perfect....good luck pal Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
I and others have sent emails to Deben asking them how much shelve life do you get with Lithium batteries, and have not received an answer, now you would think in these troubled times a question on a product, and less face it an expensive one at that, would jump at the chance to come up with info, if they they think you are interested in there product. Country Joe 1,411
Heres an interesting post that was on another Forum, Re: LAMPING ENQUIRY « Reply #19 on Jul 19, 2011, 9:28am » I had the same doubts about the life of the lithium batteries and also failed to get any info from deben. After speaking to the electronics people at work and looking at data for similar batteries it seems you should get anywhere between 700 and 1500 cycles of the battery. It all depends on the length of time you use it for as if you fully discharge it rather than just half use it, you will get less cycles(a cycle being using the battery then recharging it). The other bad news is all lithium batteries have a poor shelf life and if unused they loose up to 20% of their capacity every year from the date of manufacture. This means its wearing out while you're not using it and, if a shop has had your 14Ah battery in their stores for 2 years, by the time you get it, it could have the capacity of an 8Ah. My dad flys model aircraft all using lithium cells and through his experience had confirmed what I have just written. This may be why deben wont give out any info on them as the performance (long term) isn't great when you weigh up the cost compared to good old lead acids. Hope this helps, Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Interesting topic lads. I was seriously considering getting one of these but not so sure now :-( Gaz Quote Link to post
weasle 1,119
Mine didn't last 2 seasons,Although it did get used a lot,This was using laser lites,so not as draining as some of the lamps you lot use. Then theres those bullet connectors . But if you do a lot of walking the weight is great. So i will prob ally buy one more, bypass the bullet connector, and see how i get on. Quote Link to post
Paid 935
A friends 22amp one burnt out after a few months, so I'm going to stick to sealed acid for now. Quote Link to post

Guest D.F.K
not throught through, had one gave it away, do not power a lamp or give the same beam as a sealed battery connections break into battery at least 3 times a season cost upto 9 quid a time for new one..gave mine away didnt like it Quote Link to post
03dkelly 25
After reading this I got a bit worried about mine, so I contacted a friend who uses lithium in his model airplanes and also installs them with house alarms. He told me they have no memory effect, and should have a self discharge on them. So if not used for year they probably will be flat but a good charge will see them right as rain again. Had no trouble with mine anyway and Ive used it 2 seasons. Quote Link to post
