Don't think you're supposed to use dog shampoo, too harsh.   I also heard that if you bath them them smell even more afterwards because you wash off essential oils in their fur which they them repro

It was just a question I ve heard about people washing um that's all I don't wash me dog ain't gona wash me bloody ferrets either thanks for the comments though alot of different oppions interesting.

Sometimes washing is essential, I will give you a classic example of that , a ferret took in , found wandering was covered in some sort of engine oil it had picked up on its travels, now i did the fluffy thing and bathed it :whistling: , using fairy liquid to cut through the oil,it was either that or leave it to wash its self clean & inject christ knows what

Ferrets are naturally clean animals ...its usually dirty conditions that make them smell and grubby...like has been said...clean livin and sleeping quarters and access to fresh air should see a clean and relativley smell free ferret...as for fleas and ticks well thats a different scenario altogether...atb stabba

I've met some people that keep ferrets indoors. You wouldn't believe the lengths some of these people go to. Bell collars for them. Baths twice a week. Hats, clothes, an they meet up for wee playground. An that's just 'THE ONE'

You will never win a nice wee red rosette if you dont shampoo them whistling.gif

You won't win one if you do, all the judges at the shows mine go to mark the animals down if it doesn't smell like a proper ferret. :whistling:

Relatively smell free...theres a difference.....for instance....take a nice clean looked after ferret and a badly managed ferret..put em together...bet the well looked after ferret is relativley smell free at the side of the badly managed 1...atb stabba

if you change what bedding you use weekly it should get rid of a lot of the smell. i dont particularly

find intact hobs over smelly if there kept in a clean cage , thats whay i use paper because my washer cant cope with dog bedding & ferret bedding

I keep my jill indoors because their are some thieving c*nts around my way that would gladly take her. Once I get a lock for my outdoor enclosure I'll be much happier not having to bathe a ferret. It doesn't make me soft or want to dress it up. I just don't want my house to stink and before anyone says it I clean the cage daily.
