fcuktheban 140
hello out there, just a quick one do many people bath there ferts if so what shampoo would you use(dog shampoo?) I use baby shampoo or puppy shampoo on the ones I keep indoors. You can also use a spray pet deodoriser. I prefer my workers to stink before sending them in though. If the ferret can't bolt them then the stench should do it. Quote Link to post

cathunter 8
i use ferret shampoo that i picked up from the pet shop, i only use it when a ferret gets on the nose or really grubby, wet em over first in warm water, then rub shampoo in, then a good rinse off in warm water and a dry off in a towel Quote Link to post
rob190364 2,594
Don't think you're supposed to use dog shampoo, too harsh. I also heard that if you bath them them smell even more afterwards because you wash off essential oils in their fur which they them reproduce even more to compensate. Don't know how true that is though. If you're thinking about bathing them to get rid of the smell, don't both.....ferrets smell, simple as that and there's nowt you can do about it. Neutering cuts down on the smell a fair bit but it doesn't go completely. 1 Quote Link to post
B.P.R 2,798
Aye but everybody is saying that they bathed them for a reason, they're either dirty. Unclean or likethe one said to get rid of fleas Quote Link to post
theferreter 311
never bathed a ferret in my life ive never had to i keep my ferrets living quaters spotless plus i dont think bathing would be to good for the oils in there coats Quote Link to post
Malt 379
I wouldn't bother. They like dogs, they'll soon start smelling worse than they did before you bathed them. Give them some nice deep shavings and they'll clean themselves by digging through them. If you don't like the smell of ferrets maybe you should look at getting a cat.. Quote Link to post
