YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT WHY THE SUBJECT OF A CULL KEEPS CROPPING UP. THINK OF THE DAIRY FARMERS THAT ARE LOOSING CATTLE, 1ST THEY LOOSE WHATEVER CATTLE ARE INFECTED, FAIR ENOUGH THEY GET COMPENSATION FOR

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I finally received my response from the BBC. It only took 3 emails and then a phone call. Here it is for any who are interested;   Thank you for your email ab

Hired shooters targeting free running badgers. It was going to be trap & humane dispatch but they changed it. Not sure why you posted this in here though, did you seriously think that in this day and age they'd even remotely consider digging to them with terriers?:laugh:

the easiest and cheapest way would be just to lift the protection of them and let folk get on with it , pre 74 there were still plenty about and guys were out digging them every weekend let alone roadkill and shooters, we dug 1000 s over the years my old man had a good market for badger hocks he had to suppement his money somehow and this was one way along with the rabbits and game birds

More chance of getting a blowjob from the queen! We all know that its the most sensible way of doing things but this country holds billy as some sort of untouchable.

All the farmers want is the freedom to legally control this pest but rather than that the government favour a cull at the tax payers expence. They reckon TB costs the taxpayer 100 million a year! I wonder how much this cull will cost? If it does ever happen then will have to be kept up anually.

PS Ive notivced in the media they are mentioning that the badger is a protected species under European law. We all know in many European countries that are held in the same league as the UK that the badger is hunted and even dug, so it seems to me the media are trying to make us seem like some cruel coutry that is out of touch with the rest of Europe. Ive not read one bit of news about the cull/TB that mentions that France etc have an anuall open season for the control of badgers!!!

I live in a country where badgers have a set season. Never heard of reports of TB until just recently in the next county. This is cattle country so I imagine a lot of farmers will be getting in touch.

There is also talk about the other species being possible carriers - wild boar and deer mainly.

TO THE ANTIS READING THIS FORUM. Do you see what your over zealous protection of badgers has done. All these brock that are going to be killed do not have to die, they could be dug out easily, safely and freely by terriermen,innoculated,re-released,re-located if necessary. Instead the over protection that you pushed for has lead to thousands of brock that will now needlessly be killed and continually so for years to come.I think its understood and admitted that a few idiots in our ranks fuelled this push, but now the pendulum has swung to far the other way and it is you who are doing the disservice and damage to brock. You need to re-think, me-thinks :yes:
