All the money spent on testing theset things to make sure they are safe and humane. then 1 persons opinion reverses all of of that and its an out right ban. then somenone gets a fine of £2,000.00 for trying to keep his dog 'safe'. i bet he would have got the fine if the dog jumped over the fence and caused a major car crash. or done for neglect when the cranky colie eventually broke its neck.

dont get this country sometimes!

RSPCA inspector Nic De Celis said after the case:(AKA the cun*) "It's gratifying to see that this new legislation really works and is making a difference to animal welfare in Wales.

seriosly fuc* off!

RSPCA and a bunch of freaks. This happened in Wales though and they are banned there.

What is worse punishing a dog for misbehaving or not recalling?? or being like so many park dog owners who have an animal that is completely out of control once of the lead.

I despair!!

Ive seen many a good dog ruined by the incorrect use of the S/C , i support the ban myself.

Its a shame its come to this but untrained people should be kept as far away as possible from these gadgets IMHO.

i understand the concern when ti comes to the s/c with regards to over use by people who think they are a wonder gadget to break the heart and spirit of their dog to get it to behave but these surcumstances seem ok because it was used as a boundry device.

I agree, its the same old senario the fools end up ruining it for the dedicated people who really do understand the concept of correcting a dog.

I think there a cracking tool, in the right hands and in this case it seems it was being used to possibly save the life of the dog and to stop it causing a serious accident.

Does this also mean the ban of the Electric fence in Wales?? Very hypocritical if not.

I don't have a problem with appropriate use a shock collar. In the right hands and right circumstances they can be literally life savers (explain that to the yogurt nitters!). However hes obviously had the collar for a while on this dog, If it keeps escaping, and or ignoring it then its not working. Which should have been a signal to try and find other methods of containing or training the dog. For 2 grand he could have built a decent fence, or that most complex of devices, a bloody chain!

From what I read about the case the dog was often seen running loose about the place with the collar on. I believe he had one of these virtual electric fences set up which set the collar off if it went past a certain boundary, it obviously didn't work.

I've nothing against the correct use of a shock collar, but IMO they should only be used for specific purposes, not as a general training aid for pets..
