dave1372 83
Try not to let it get to you, I know someone that had a similar experience and it took six weeks before he got the all clear but he got the all clear being the important thing and I am sure it will be the same for you so chin up mate. In my opinion this is why junkies that use needles should be removed from society ! junkies have no place in a modern society

scalesntails 118
Fingers crossed for you mate. Just remember the chances of anything being passed on are very low so don't worry yourself too much while you wait. I know that's easier said then done though. I personally have nothing against junkies as long they clear up after themselves and fund their habit by working legally. When they get their needles from the the chemist they get a paperbag containing condoms, syringes, alcohol wipes, vitamin C and a SHARPS BIN :wallbash: So there really is no excuse at all. Junkies that leave stuff lying around or thieve to support their habit are scum and probably wouldn't be much different if they weren't taking drugs.
Night Hunter 109
I hope it all works out for you mate,I work for a local authority and we have just been issued with guidelines about this sort of thing as it turns out that junkies are rigging up light switches, lift buttons and plastic handrails in flats with contaminated needles. The guidelines recommend that if you recieve a sharps injury it should be allowed to bleed out to help flush out contamination (DO NOT SUCK THE WOUND OR INTRODUCE IT TO YOUR MOUTH)flush the wound with soap and warm fresh water and seek immediate medical attention. One of my collegues got a needle stick injury a while back and It worked out fine for him, remember not every needle carries viruses, may be worth asking your work for counciling or help to find out more about what you can and cant do till the results come through and get your wife to go allong with you. you wont pass anything to your child with a kiss on the cheek/forehead,dont let this spoil your time with your family mate. matt_hooks 188
The HIV virus is weak outside the body, as said it needs blood temperature or there abouts to survive. Needle sticks are always scary, but an infection from a needle is incredibly rare (notwithstanding sharing needles of course, which carries a massive risk). As someone said earlier on, the real cause of the problem is the criminalisation of drug use. Heroin isn't a dangerous drug (far less dangerous than alcohol, and far less addictive than nicotine) but as soon as you make it illegal you criminalise users and push prices high, then they have no real choice but to resort to thieving to feed their habit. I know people who hold down high paying city jobs, and have a smack habit. I'm not saying that it's a good thing, of course it's not, and the types who drop needles, putting people at risk of infection from Hep and the like would likely find something else if smack didn't exist. The drug isn't at fault (no, I've never used it and never would) it's people in general. I work at a park, where smoking is banned because most of the time it's packed with kids, and yet I still get abuse if I ask people to stop smoking around the kids, dropping their fag butts on the ground etc. Some people just don't give a s##t about other people, and that's nothing to do with drugs or anything like that. Hope your results are clear, I'm sure they will be!

Cold Ethyl 63
Flipping hell mate sorry to hear this im sure you will get the all clear though and fingers are crossed here.Id legalise smack its cheaper to refine than sugar so give the feckers all the want let them kill thmeselves if they want.Plus then there excuse to rob and act like arseholes goes out the window i know a few ex smack heads who worked hard and got clean and i mean clean no methodone no f**k all.Its the ones that use it as an excuse to be a thieving dirty b*****d that bother me.As was said earlier they get shaprs bins etc so absoloutely no excuse whatsoever to leave needles lying around. Its so bad in some areas we heard recently of a kid biting another kid and the young lad had to go for an aids test and what not says a lot about the world were all living in at the minute
trappa 518
Not good welshpower. Thats some bad sh*t to mess with the mind. Good luck mate, sincerely. I take my lad to boy scouts and the hut is right next to some druggy flats. In the last 3 weeks we have come out and seen then actually fighting each other for money owed, breaking into their own flat when it was boarded up by the landlord, both in broad daylight, and found a pile of diazepam and triazepam round the back of the hut. It really wouldnt suprise me if there is needles knocking about too. Scum bast*rds.
