windyhill 30
well please go easy as my 1st topic, my dad says that we shouldnt run 2 dogs together,i ask why and he cant realy answer,He even through his shoe at me yesterday and told me to ask my mates on the hunting forums, so here goes, me and my mate run dogs together but we also run them on there own whats the differance??why is runing together frowned upon??? isnt it better to have a dog that will do both and not tamper with the other dog when runing as iam sure most of you some time or other have run your dogs with another dog or they escaped the slip while lamping and joined in on the chase, we dont catch more runing 2 dogs together or runing 1 dog on its own but here theres not loads of rabbits and if we go out we are lucky to get 5 runs on the lamp so we run them both together to make sure both have a run, so whats peoples oppinions on double runing and i dont agree the rabbit has less chance of escape and we never had an injury due to this either Quote Link to post
rocky1 942
i,ve doubled up a few times you allways taking a risk but you also doing that when you slip one dog ,if the handler know when 2 slip another dog and the dog its running with is not sucidel then it can be usefull ,but mailing only double when running pups ,but like all aspects of hunting theirs risk with everythink plus your double your chance of getting what you running Quote Link to post

ianh 83
havent had an injury yet you should say! can be quite dangerous, imagine two dogs and for some reason they are coming at the same rabbit or whatever from different directions they cant see each other, if they both get to that rabbit at the same time head on crash, it aint gonna be pretty. 1 Quote Link to post
hedz31 1,308
Recipe for disaster sooner or later there gonna colide or knock each other and a dog is gonna get injured, also running 2 dogs together all the time is gonna make them run different to a single handed dog ie you will get 1 dog hold back etc let the other dog do the work also 2 dogs run together start to relie on a partner to turn game etc and usualy come unstuck when run alone, ye will never know what your dog is capable of on its own either just my opinion though alot of folks may think differently 1 Quote Link to post
