ferrets the grounds of the jail in co.roscommon to keep the rabbit numbers down.

a great way to pass the time if uv been locked up me thinks.

hav been near few prisons and theres always plenty bunnys

 

wonder do they eat the rabbits ?

 

does anybody ferret in strange places like this ? and howd u get permission ?

i worked at castlerea prison for a couple of years and the grounds are full of rabbits of all colours and a few hares to, was told the the inmates kept rabbits

i work in a prison and have ferreted the grounds about 5 years back to rid the place of rabbits that had gotten in when a new section was being built. in the end we were just pulling them out of one hole sets. caught over 100 in one winter season. The lad who iworked with would just let them go outside the jail. They caused horrendous damage to the grounds inside the jail but we did get them all in the end. outside the jail they breed like hell during the summer then every year myxi gets them

 

Ive also wondered about ferreting the top of a quarry on one of my permissions but its a 150 foot drop and my arse drops out every time i get within 100 yards of the edge

ferretd in an open prison mear fern fehcing joke realy, me and a big traveler mate w mcphee had some laughs , we strayed to far one day poaching this mad farmer was chaseing us over his ground ,shouting my rabbits leave them you bad prisoners lol we got in trouble i says the ferrets all escaped we had to get them back , some crack seeing mcphee trying to get through a barb wire fence as he was abig lad ,and another poor lad as he was getting out after 14 years of prison for bank robbing he was looking forward to his yahct and land when he got out ,had three ferrrets there tried to get the lurcher up but they says steady on weel never see you again ,funny old game
