Smunch 0
My whippet was 3 years old when he was diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia and underwent a total hip replacement. At 6 years old he dislocated the right hip and had to undergo yet another surgery to correct the hip. But he developed complications and suffered from mobility problems. The vet recommends an FHO but what I'm concerned right now is the possibility of the problem also occurring on the left hip.
spookster1 24
I have had a cat that had this operation after being involved in a RTA. The cat made a full recovery and you would never know anything happened, she is still as agile as ever I know a cat is smaller the a whippet but I think the op works very will for smaller lighter animals. good luck! Smunch 0
Thanks for the info. I asked another vet for an opinion and unfortunately he has the same opinion as the first. my dog needs an FHO . as for the problem occurring on the other hip, there is indeed a possibility but we'll cross the bridge when we get there. Wish us luck.....
