JohnGalway 1,043
This is "Fly". He's nine months old, AFAIK a Collie x Kelpie. We just got him today, he's a bit too thin at the moment but he's landed on his feet here so should be fit in no time. Marked about the head, must have been in the odd scrap with the other dogs he was kept with. Saw his parents and brother, as well as himself, working sheep this morning. Parents worked well, brother I wouldn't be keen on, too reckless and a bit too much bite for my liking. Fly however didn't seem phased by the sheep, knows his left from his right, turned the sheep, attentive to commands, not bad! He had a bit of a journey home, his first car trip, plus a few others bringing him to two different parts of the farm and to the beach in the evening just to have him out and around. Brought him to my farm and walked him through the ewes & lambs and then the hoggets. Tried him off the lead in an unoccupied field, he followed me everywhere, even when I tried to catch him out a couple of times by going through gaps in different directions that he'd been expecting. He's had an eventful day and is sound asleep at the moment, I think he'll do alright, great temperament on this dog

I presume he was in with his brother who I suspect may have had something to do with that. On his run, one ewe got a horn snagged in some wire and he was on her like a flash, didn't like that. Either way, we've had dogs in the past that have come from real bad homes, abused, taunted etc. and once settled in here they all turned out good working sheep dogs

JohnGalway 1,043
He's for sheep. He done alittle for me this morning with some hoggets, but I think he needs a lot more training yet. Though his sit and come back commands are quite good which is a major help.
