Locally it would probably be a "cough" £50 on the spot fine to each of them so £100 total. They would then tap you up again a few weeks later and so on.

if guy admits its a apbt, then the dog was pts, surely

nope , it's down to the officer and the way the owner behaves . this case the details of the owner was taken down and the dog had to be muzzled in a public place but he was allowed on his way with his dog.

and what if i told you dog handlers are now carrying breaking sticks would you believe me?

It should be law that any cnut with a bull terrier or bull terrier x should carry a break stick imo..they are the difference between life and death.

So assuming the dog behaves is he ok permanently now or could another copper seize the dog next time he's out?

They more than likely didnt know what the law was themself !....Stop and ask any everyday plod about the dangerous dogs law and very few will be able to tell you the exact details....

The sad part of the law is that the genuine folk who owned the breed have already paid the price and lost dogs etc.....leaving the street hoodlum idiot types free to do what they like.....in other words, the genuine folk with genuine dogs paved the way for the idiots....the only saving grace being the dogs they think are genuine apbt are mostly crossbred mongrels !
