TOMO 26,236
MOO do you have to get on the hill befor the grouse season to deal with pests,, or are you fortunate enough to be allowed on throughout the season. Quote Link to post
MOO 730
Checking some of the new grouse butts but to tell you the truth with the toretial rain we have had these past few days and cold nights I think the grouse numbers up here will be poor Quote Link to post

MOO 730
MOO do you have to get on the hill befor the grouse season to deal with pests,, or are you fortunate enough to be allowed on throughout the season. I know most of the keepers in my area and get a fair bit of work with the big dogs and little dogs ...the thing now adays is the younger generation of keepers realise just what a handy tool a decent lurcher and terrier can be infact most of the younger keepers keep a lurcher now a days and will tell you that its the dog they have in the truck most so it has become easier of late to get lurcher work on estates ..infact even some of the old school keepers love watching the big dogs graft. The actual grouse shooting season up here is not much more than a month and on this particular place there a re few reds as the have been culled in favour of the grouse so there is no stalking season on here ... There are more rabbits on here thatn I have ever seen so can ferret them anytime I want but my dogs are not up to that task . Anytime you want to come up Tomo as ive said before you are more than welcome Edited July 16, 2011 by MOO Quote Link to post
