DottyDoo 500
my dogs get 2 hours a mooching most days, if i cant make it, 2, its deffo an hour of free running an hunting up the hedges... in winter if i dont mooch the dogs i ferret them...... i roadwalk my dogs for 3/5 miles, but must admit i have just started doing this.... i swim my dogs daily for between 15/30 mins in the swim tank an will up that time just before i start lamping seriously.. i then trott my dogs behind the quad bike at nite, across the local fields, unless im out lamping..... an my lamping trips usually get harder an longer as the winter progresses.. not a lot a people have mentioned rest tho, an rest is a seriously important factor of fitness, along with top notch food Quote Link to post

I fling the lead for 50 minutes to teach them striking pace = Shite and the other classic " I don,t do mooching because it encourages the dug to hunt up whilst oot lamping" i believe it does because they have to get right down to the ground, it decreaces the amount of over run the dog has and i find that dogs that do alot of mooching do hunt up on the lamp my dogs get 2 hours a mooching most days, if i cant make it, 2, its deffo an hour of free running an hunting up the hedges... in winter if i dont mooch the dogs i ferret them...... i roadwalk my dogs for 3/5 miles, but must admit i have just started doing this.... i swim my dogs daily for between 15/30 mins in the swim tank an will up that time just before i start lamping seriously.. i then trott my dogs behind the quad bike at nite, across the local fields, unless im out lamping..... an my lamping trips usually get harder an longer as the winter progresses.. not a lot a people have mentioned rest tho, an rest is a seriously important factor of fitness, along with top notch food i mentioned food and rest dotty because like you said alot dont give it Quote Link to post

KittleRox 2,147
Firstly why no fling a baw if you think it makes a difference ? however a baw/lead whatever doesn,t jink like a bunny secondly and i really can,t be bothered but when you introduce the dug to the lamp when it trys to hunt up after a slip use recall don,t worry if you scare all the bunnys in that field away, the initial few trips out are all important, get recall spot on, a dog with half a brain will soon learn when to keep its head up or nose down depending on the situation 1 Quote Link to post
