DEKAW 85
Just out of curiousity does anyone use a dremel to shorten/shape their dogs nails? Im asking this question as im currently trimming my dogs nails on a weekly basis.Hind nails dont seem to grow as quick. I have attached a photo of my black dogs nails and im getting rather concerned about the nails on the outer sides, as they arnt going to a point. My dogs get plenty of road walking but the outer nails are the same thickness all the way down. This is what ive been looking at if the link works. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DREMEL-CORDLESS-10-8V-ROTARY-TOOL-CASE-NEW-/150630358191?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item231244dcaf Any advice will be appriciated. Strong Stuff 2,171
Not sure if the tool will do the job, am sure it might, but the noise won't do much for your dogs nerves! They are quite loud, I wouldn't like anyone to put one near my toenails LOL

gnipper 6,546
I use this one http://www.amazon.com/Dremel-761-03-Cordless-Grooming-Rotary/dp/B0000C6DZ2 it is quieter than the normal dremel and the noise definitely bothers them less than the clippers do to a dog that doesn't like them. skycat 6,174
You'd have to walk some dogs hundreds of miles on the road to wear their claws down. It all depends on their toes, the angle of their toes, and the breeding of the dog. Saluki types often have very hard long claws. I've used a Dremmel: does work, the dog didn't mind it but you have to hold the toe really firmly and the dog has to be used to having its feet handled. There is actually a special tool for dogs available: can't remember where I saw it: probably on a Greyhound site: but its a bit like a Dremmel. I wonder if it would work better as it seemed to take ages when I used the Dremmel. Little and often is the key, and someone also said that the quick will recede in time as it shrinks away from the heat of the Dremmel. Be prepared to take several weeks, even months, to get the claws back to the right level.
