DottyDoo 500
ferrets digestive tract is not long enuff to hold worms............... so i was always told i freeze rabbits for a minimum of 28 days before i feed to dogs to kill worms, but i never freeze for ferrets, unless i aint got any fresh in..... never noticed any worms in my ferrets poo poo, my hobs always lose some condition over the summer, due to being on the ran dan constantly Quote Link to post

I've never had a ferret with worms either but I always assumed it was because I didn't feed them raw in the past. Quote Link to post
rob190364 2,594
Something of a ferret health website: Although intestinal worms can infect ferrets, they don’t seem to be a major problem for them. The following are the 3 most common intestinal parasites found in ferrets: Coccidia Symptoms include: Diarrhea Weight Loss Anorexia Your vet will probably give your ferret a pill or liquid medicine for 10 days and then will check a poop sample to make sure the problem has been cured. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Giardia lamblia Uncommon in ferrets but has been known to occur in ferrets which drink contaminated water or food, especially raw offal. Guardia is diagnosed by faecal testing. If your ferret is found to have the parasite, you will probably be given medicine to give it orally for 10 days to cure it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cryptosporidium parvum Symptoms include: Profuse watery diarrhea Depression Anorexia An infected ferret may not show any symptoms until it gets stressed or its immune system becomes suppressed by another illness. Kits could get cryptosporidium from eating raw offal or from their mother. Quote Link to post
