a mate is getting 200-250 sterling the odd time he'd have surplus pups, hes got lads queueing up for his dogs

but hes not a "big name" and you wont see his name thrown around on the interweb either. no adverts selling pups either, just word of mouth

I reared 5 pups last year and it cost me     £30 15kg beta puppy food £70 docking and bottle of wormer from vets. £10 minced flesh 25p per lb heat lamp for 1st 2 week pennies   Thats a total o

i give pups away on aggreement they come back to me if no good or dont suit because i only ever bred for myself

IMO pups from genuine lines of good digging dogs ought to be in the thousands, but that said i'de sooner give them to decent lads to run on.

I reared 5 pups last year and it cost me

£30 15kg beta puppy food

£70 docking and bottle of wormer from vets.

£10 minced flesh 25p per lb

heat lamp for 1st 2 week pennies

Thats a total of £110 for the full litter, so rearing 4 extra pups at a cost of less than £30 each.

The time I spent cleaning and caring for the pups would be the same as if I had only 1 pup that I bred for myself, same as the time and fuel going to the sire.

The sire's owner wanted a replacement for his kennel, I bred for a replacement in my kennel and I gave away FOC 3 pups to trusted digging kennels. If my pup does not make the grade I hope 1 of the others will make the grade, so in years to come the favour is returned back if needed. Each kennel brings dogs on their way in their grounds so IMO there is a greater chance of the pups coming on well, better than me keeping all.

So it cost me a extra £110 but there are 4 extra chances for me to keep going forward in the future.

I'm with busterdog you cannot put a price on the pups which are our future.

Each to your own way, but enjoy and keep smiling.

If all genuine dog men gave away thier excess pups then I reckon that there would be far less shite & I also think far less dogs would be stolen .

Id agree with you to a certain extent about giving pups for free but not just to anyone,i mean would you give someone a pup that you never met before or know nothing about.Fair play give them to lads in your circle or good diging lads you know who will give the pup a fair crack at the whip. Why would less dogs be stolen, the scum that steal dogs of any breed are not genuine dog men, there parasites and should be treated as such.

id agree with that boss..a bag of food for the pup is fair exchange and at least sum thing has changed hands and its there pup then to genuine digging lads...but ones who steel dogs are not worth talking bout scum should have hands cut off
