scothunter 12,609 Posted July 12, 2011 Report Share Posted July 12, 2011 To be honest, if you wanted to you could go to local traders, but supermarkets have made everything so cheap in comparison to local traders most people couldn't justify paying so much extra....even if it is much better quality most of the time. It would help if everyone wasn't so bloody skint! Very true but I find the high street cheaper if anything, veg is certainly cheaper from the greengrocer and the little extra you may pay at the butcher is worth it just to keep an independant trader going imho....fihmongers have all but dissapeared and the few that there are left dont turn over enough stock fast enough to have really fresh products. If you look around you can buy all the rest of the gumph needed for daily life at some good bargain prices BUT it all takes time and effort, two things that seem to be sadly lacking in this modern utopia! And I will add that a lot of 30 something women have no idea how to shop or what to look for when choosing fish, meat or veg......another by product of the supermarket generation. spot on mate.my sister and botheres wifes just get everything from the supermarkets,my old mum she shops around and gets stuff a lot cheaper from the wee shops.we should all take a leaf out of the old time women and thier shopping tips.also agree with you malt.its a myth that supermarkets are cheap. relic 30 Posted July 12, 2011 Report Share Posted July 12, 2011 we have got a big one being built at the top of my road its going to be a monster, it will be handy for a few things late at night when the prices go down and the cheap cans of beer, but thats about it for me i will still go up the market and pakistany shops for frut and veg and here and there for difernt things, i can not stand them my self but they have a got a lot of folk by the bulls as its so easy all under the one roof evern the petrol but saying all that im puting my name down for a job in there as the way things are going there will be sod all eles about :wallbash: Quote Link to post Share on other sites

My local butcher and greengrocer are cheaper and better quality than the over priced, over packaged shite in supermarkets, but the c**ts have opened a TESCunt express in the precinct. The fuckers want rid of the butcher, greengrocer and newsagents and replace it with identikit blue and white striped dystopia. f**k TESCunt, f**k Terry Leahy and f**k all the c**ts who shop in TESCunt.
