trigger2 3,137
collie Xs are good dogs. but they can develop a habbit of picking and choosing there runs, which is something you dont really want if your on small fields with short grass an lightning fast rabbits imo. but at the same time they can be excellent if they dont pick up the collie traits. my dogs got a 1/4 collie in him, although i wouldnt change him for the world i will not be going down the collie route again anytime soon. the beddy/whippet great little dogs loads of prey drive can be handy both day and night. if its your first dog they can have a tendency to be a little head strong. yet ive seen them do impressive stuff out in the field. the whippet can also be a great little dog both day and night they can also have great preydrive. most i have seen have been good little dogs. dont know much about the whippet/greyhounds only ever seen one run once and dont know anyone who owns one. hope this helps others might disagree. hargreavesheber 93
Oreyt fella.. I was asking all the same questions that you have been asking about 10 months ago, as it was my 1st lurcher and i didnt have a clue.... I too was thinking along the lines of grey x whip, but after plenty of advice off here i saw a add in the CountryMan's Weekly for my dog. Her sire is a Whippet and Dam was a Bedlington x collie greyhound. Havent done too much with her yet, but showing plenty of interest in the job. She's just under 20",. Not dissapointed at all.. Good luck with choosing a dog... Quote Link to post
